. >> thank you. >>> new this morning, an suv plows into a fire station in san mateo. it caused extensive damage. the question now, what happened behind the wheel in those moments leading up to the crash? elizabeth wenger is in san mateo with the very latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. a pretty scary wake-up call for these firefighters here in san mateo. this is a fire station behind me and you can see where they have boarded up the door. they got a pile of plywood out there as well so that's the scene of where this crash happened. we had some video that was taken last night. this happened around 10457. this is fire station 27 here on de anza boulevard. we understand firefighters were inside the fire station when this suv a gmc yukon ran right into the building. it caused extensive damage to the front of the firehouse. as you saw, they have it boarded up now but a reserve fire truck was also damaged in the crash. officials say there were two people inside the suv when it did crash into the firehouse. they were transferred to stanford medical center. we're not sure

san mateo bridge, it has been pretty good. a good canute westbound. there are no delays westbound or eastbound. we're 92 connects with the nimitz and be sure, we are still moving pretty smoothly. over on 101, looking at the golden gate bridge, it is all about the fog. the ride for marin county, there are no delays for the southbound ride heading in from ring county. even from 37 to the toll plaza, a great time to make that 101 commute. >> with the fourth of july there is always a concern about fires. there was a big grass fire that broke out in of a point area. if a lot of people were nervous overnight. will tran is in a coin. we have dramatic pictures and questions this morning. was this related to july 4th? >> page and not know at this point. several acres of vines, this is one of three fires and broke out in an hour and a half. cordially and they stopped it from spreading down the road towards a chemical plant. cook it does not look like much, but when we put camera around we will show you how close to the homes are. it was a blustery, is that members carried over here, and that w

san mateo county dangerous driving. not sure if this is what led to a problem on the road. troubles on the road this morning. a cig alert issued in san francisco. ktvu's kraig debro just arrived at the scene. kraig, what's going on there? >> reporter: thanks, sal. we're not sure either. police aren't telling us much. this is at the 19th avenue exit you see an officer in the middle of the screen waving his flashlight directing people. they take 280 northbound continue onto san francisco. police are calling this a crime scene and typically when something like that happens on a highway that mean that is somebody may have died. whenever there's a person who dies it's usually investigated as a homicide even though it may not turn out to be that. but the officer up here did not tell us anything. in fact we're being kept well back of where we typically would be able to stand during these kinds of stories. there's a number of chp officers on the scene. at least one fire engine that i can tell. there appears to be -- there's a car to the left. i can't tell if that's a car pulled up afterward

in san mateo. if there is a damaged door. jackie sissel is out there live this morning talking to investigators and a firemaen. >> this is probably the fastest response time that the san mateo fire department has ever had. they did not even have to open their doors. the accident came to them. i am outside of engine 27 in san mateo. it started over here on westbound 92, a car traveling westbound was exiting de anza and came across four lanes of traffic and plowed into the door at station 27. let's take a look at the video from last night. the white s u b was part inside of the station. no one inside the station was injured. there was minor damage to the trucks and a little bit of the inside the big damage was outside. the occupants of the vehicle were both treated and taken to a nearby hospital. their injuries are not life-threatening and they are expected to be fine. according to officials out here, alcohol may have played a role in this. toxicology tests are upcoming. the big question is how are they going to get these firetrucks out. the door is sealed shut with plywood. >> jack

morning firefighters in san mateo had to repond to an emergency outside their front door. an suv slammed through the door at one of the garages. marla tellez joins us live with the story. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. i spoke to a firefighter who is on duty, he was on last night when that sunshine suv came slamming into the garage door and he says it was a shocker. this is fire station 27 off deanzo boulevard off 92 in the man meat hills. the most extensive part of the damage, the door wiped out. the pile of debris, there is some damage inside in the interior. you can get a look at that. this is what we're hearing. across the street we're going to give you a look, the deanda off ram. the driver lost control and slid into this fire station. we do have the shoe from last night. it happened before 11:00. you can see the white yukon, it could have been a lot worse. no firefighters or personnel were hurt. but the two people, there were two inside the suv taken to the hospital. we're hearing stanford hospital with injuries. the extent is not known. this has not been confirme
